Dr. Nikole Lewis is delighted to be joining the Department of Astronomy faculty at Cornell. Her research focuses on characterization of exoplanets, planets beyond our solar system, using a combination of techniques. Dr. Lewis is involved with more than two-dozen observational campaigns with the Hubble and Spitzer Space Telescopes and ground-based facilities that aim to determine chemical, radiative, and dynamical processes in exoplanet atmospheres. She also develops a broad range of multi-dimensional atmospheric models that are necessary for interpretation of current observations and planning exoplanet observation with future missions like JWST and WFIRST. Recently, Dr. Lewis co-led several Hubble programs that provided the first atmospheric probes of the earth-sized exoplanets in the TRAPPIST-1 system.
