Soil directional reflectance in the principal plane with varied illumination angle under dry and saturated conditions

by Tian, Jia and CSI member Philpot, William D. OPTICS EXPRESS, 26 (18):23883-23897; 10.1364/OE.26.023883 SEP 3 2018 (email: philpot@cornell.edu)

The team monitored the change in directional (biconical) spectral reflectance for three soil samples under air dry and saturated conditions in the laboratory using three discrete illumination angles. The soil samples represent a variety of soil properties and the observations illustrate the darkening, changes in spectral distribution, and flattening of the directional properties of saturated soil relative to dry soil.
